Picture News Communicate is an oral language intervention to help boost children’s speaking and listening skills with a simple, fun and engaging six-week programme.
Following the familiar Picture News format structure, our Communicate resource initiates group conversations each week through the use of a large image linked to an interesting and inspiring news story from around the world.
The daily discussion makes links from the news story to the children’s own lives, encouraging them to speak in sentences about their own experiences and listen and respond to others in familiar small group sessions. The bright, engaging images, will help spark reminders of the different things children may have seen or experienced, which can help the conversation to flow.
The main pack includes:
- An A2 display wallet containing hard copies of all of the resources.
-6 glossy A2 poster images.
-Full, detailed planning for a 6-week daily intervention looking at news stories from the topics of: The Farm, Transport, The Weather, Food, Animals and Holidays.
